The Story Behind “La Cruz / The Cross” – Melech Worship

“La Cruz / The Cross” was born from one of the most deeply moving experiences of my life: walking through Jerusalem, along the stone streets and paths where Jesus walked carrying the cross.

As I walked those ancient streets, I began thinking about what Jesus endured for humanity. I couldn't simply see the stones as history. I began imagining His journey to Calvary—the weight of the cross, the suffering, the blood He shed, and the incredible love that led Him to continue walking.

I was overcome with gratitude and tears.

Jesus knew what was waiting for Him, yet He continued.

He was mocked.
He was beaten.
He was wounded.
He carried the cross.
And ultimately, He gave His life for us.

The cross reminds us that our salvation came at a tremendous cost. Jesus didn't give His life because we deserved it. He gave His life because He loved us.

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8

That moment in Jerusalem reminded me of something we can never forget:

We cannot forget the Cross.

We cannot forget the sacrifice.
We cannot forget the blood.
We cannot forget His suffering.
We cannot forget His love.

And most importantly, we cannot forget what Jesus accomplished for us.

“He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; ‘by his wounds you have been healed.’”
1 Peter 2:24

The cross was not the end of the story.

Three days later, Jesus rose again.

The cross represents the sacrifice, but the empty tomb represents the victory.

“He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.”
Matthew 28:6

Because of Jesus, the cross is not a symbol of defeat. It is a declaration of love, redemption, forgiveness, and victory.

“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”
1 Corinthians 1:18

“La Cruz / The Cross” is our response of gratitude.

A reminder to stop, remember, and worship the One who gave everything for us.

When we look at the cross, we should remember His love.

When we remember His wounds, we should remember His sacrifice.

When we remember His resurrection, we should remember His victory.

The Cross saved you and me.

Jesus paid the price.

And He is worthy of all our praise.
